British Female Voiceover - Annie Warburton

Award-winning British female voice working in commercial, videogames, corporate, e-learning, audiobooks, audiodrama and more.

I’m a British female voiceover artist working mostly from my home studio in Oxfordshire, England - UK. Originally from Watford in Hertfordshire (just outside of London), I have a neutral English accent, and am used to dialling up to an RP sound, or pivoting to a soft neutral Northern accent for projects such as radio ads.

While I record the vast majority of voiceovers from my custom built and high quality vocal booth at home, I’m open to travelling to external recording studios. I regularly record in London and I’ve even popped across the channel to record in Montepellier, France for a videogame (and yes I turned it into a little holiday after the job was done - they get glorious weather and the food is great!)

Here’s more of a deep dive into each of the voiceover services that I provide clients big and small, whether in the UK or globally.

Commercial

Commercial clients book me for my relatable, girl-next-door sound. From the perspective of students on university ads to trustworthy mums with know-how, my fresh and warm tone suits a wide range of ad scripts.

With an ear for direction and a strong acting ability, I intuitively bring commercial characters to life with believable performances that stand out. I can help strike the unique balance you need between conversational and authoritative, casual and dynamic, playful and cool/calm/collected that you copy needs!

I’ve voiced luxury reads for Prada, energetic and bubbly radio ads for GiffGaff, as well as natural (and lullaby singing!) for BMX x Google. Whether clients need a voiceover for TV, Radio, Online, Social Media, In-Store messaging or beyond, I help them with easy breezy recording sessions that leave them saying ‘amazing, you make it sound so easy’. From retail to tech ads, sports commercials to luxury spots, I’ve lent my voice to an ever growing and wide-ranging stack of commercials! I’ve also worked in Neutral English (Prada) and US Accents (MCM) on ads too.

Corporate

Corporate clients seek me out when they need a clear, trustworthy voice that’s engaging. My modern style of voiceover freshness into otherwise dry scripts (I get it, they are necessarily stuffy sometimes and loaded with industry specific jargon - that’s where my voiceover can help!)

I’ve helped out on countless corporate scripts for pitches, B2B, B2C, and company messages for board members and employees. End clients include Coca Cola, Toyota, Selfridges, Milka and the NHS, to name but a few.

It’s that approachable blend of trustworthy and relatable combined with a professional warmth that corporate clients keep inviting me back for. Some need the more casual and friendly tone of read, others want to keep it very ‘pro’, and I can easily tip my vocal performance to the right notch on the scales for you.

Videogames

I love nothing more than creating truthful and realistic characters for games. I’ve given amongst my best performances in lead roles as Giulia in Martha Is Dead and Zoe in Road 96:Mile 0, and I won Best Female Gaming Performances for both at the One Voice Awards in 2022, and 2023, as well as Best Performance at the VOX Awards in 2023. Getting my teeth into a complex character that’s nuanced with all kinds of shades to their personality, gives me my greatest voiceover ‘kick’.

Approaching character creation with great curiosity, I ask questions about the world that my character lives in. I’ve heard many times in sessions from directors and game developers ‘that’s a really good question Annie!’ I work quickly and intuitively but thoughtfully and I make each line or effort/bark count.

I’ve been noted for my range, voicing multiple NPCs in a single game, especially when budgets and deadlines are tight (as they, understandably, often are in the games industry). For Game of Thrones: Kingsroad I voiced about 13 characters in 2 hours. From child voices to women in their 60s, from the South of England to the North.

While yes, my favourite roles are deep characters with a lot of emotional range and an evolving story arc, I can also swap between a large range of characters at the drop of a hat. It’s a lot of fun!

Knowing about the context of a line, the emotional pivot between the last scene and current one, the relationships between characters you don’t get to see on screen but you feel the presence of, really helps me embody each character’s life in a unique way. And when I say that I really do mean in the body. Because when a voice actor changes their posture, the shape of their mouth shape when they speak - you hear it. It’s all part of the world building in games that I really enjoy.

As well as a range of ages, I’ve portrayed characters with various accents including my natural neutral South-East England accent, cockney, RP, French, US/General American, Scandinavian and more.

Other credit highlights include Princess Gwaelin in Dragon Quest I&II and appearances in BAFTA winning and nominated games such as Cunoesse and Delores Dei in Disco Elysium, Mary in Blue Prince, and Octavia in The Forgotten City.

For more details of games I’ve featured in (that aren’t currently under NDA!) as well as gameplay and game trailers I’ve lent my voice to, check them out here.

If you have an audition you’re itching to send over for a game project that’s coming to mobile, Playstation, Steam, Xbox, online, or even just at the demo stage - reach out to me and I’ll get back to you asap. From grounded roles to energetic fantasy and anime-style characters, I’m here to help out on your next game.
